ABOUT ME

I studied a Bachelor of Accounting degree at Stellenbosch University and then completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting at the University of Cape Town. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant at the end of 2004.

I have four beautiful children – 3 boys and a girl. My youngest son, Nicholas was born in 2012 with Down syndrome.

In December 2013, I started writing to a few magazines in order to create awareness for Down syndrome. The feedback I received was overwhelming positive and articles on Nicholas and our family, were featured in line with World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March.

I realised at this point that I could make a difference. Raising awareness and helping families in similar situations, was something I felt very passionate about. I decided to pursue a Diploma in Counselling which I completed in December 2014.

Being a Chartered Accountant, as well as a registered Tax Practitioner, I want to use the opportunity to help families claim tax benefits as a result of disability. Having a child with special needs is costly and I would like to assist in alleviating some of that financial burden.
